One of our favorite finds this year is this Midcentury Alarm Clock Glass Ornament which has the iconic happy face of alarm clocks from the midcentury and designers such as Robert Shaw and Westclox.
Why the happy face? After World War II, there was a societal push to create a happy home life, with the invention of many of today's modern appliances, tools and gadgets. In addition there was a huge baby boom and many products were designed for children. The happy face was thought to soothe the harsh tone of the alarm and make it more pleasing to awaken. Time to keep time and be happy!
